IT BAND SYNDROME
IT Band Syndrome is a common injury among runners and athletes. It occurs when the iliotibial band, a thick band of tissue that runs from the hip to the knee, inflamed or tight. Symptoms include pain on the outside of the knee, swelling, and tenderness. Acupuncture, Massage, Cupping, Guasha, treatments are an effective treatment for IT band syndrome. When all techniques are combined they have a powerhouse effect! In traditional Chinese Medicine the main theory for pain or injuries, is to promote blood flow and energy to the area. This helps promote healing. Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the to stimulate the healing response. Cupping and Guasha use suction and scraping techniques to increase blood flow and reduce muscle tension. Massage techniques can also help to relax muscles and improve circulation, leading to reduced pain and increased mobility.
